To achieve the last tip, Uwe recommends following what he deems his ‘Vitality Formula’.
In a nutshell, the Vitality Formula is an equation that helps both clients and business owners alike figure out where they are on the scale between “trust” and “fear”. Additionally, using the formula can identify where they are currently within their mindset and what steps they need to take to trust the process fully.
Uwe places a huge amount of importance on the Vitality Formula, influencing the amount of energy you are putting into your business. For example, the closer you are to fear between the scale of fear and trust, the more energy you are losing because it’s holding you back from reaching your highest potential.
To work out where you are on the scale, determine the amount of trust you have and compare it to the amount of fear you have. Then follow this equation:
Trust minus Fear = where you are in the process.
To eliminate the fear and gain more trust, Uwe has three core principles that help his clients further along in the process. These are:
Uwe spoke to Robin about his second principle, “The Elephant Thinking Effect”.
Uwe deemed this principle as such because he noticed that elephants never try to escape when at the zoo or in captivity. He believes this is because they associate fear with escaping that developed from them being captured initially. This causes elephants to freeze in a situation whenever they feel trapped or enclosed as they fear that it might happen again. This highlights conditioning of the elephant, which is interestingly similar to the human psyche.
Uwe states that are times in our lives, particularly in our past that have generated fear within ourselves and has conditioned us with thoughts such as “I don’t belong here” or “I don’t trust this”. He finalises that Elephant Thinking takes a tremendous amount of energy from entrepreneurs daily and hinders them the most from being successful.
